a big dark cloud and two rays of sunshine

I always seem to be apologizing for not being around. I know when things to bad I should post about it here and share with all of you my friends. Cause I know that makes things easier. I guess I'm just so used to having to deal with things on my own what I don't come here and I keep things to myself.

A little over a month a go my parents took their dog Sophie in to be spayed (she was 6 months old). Well she died during the surgery. In fact it was almost over when she died. They have no idea why this happened. The Dr told them in the 17 years she's been a vet this had never happened to her.

This came as a BIG shock to all of us and hit my parents VERY hard. The good thing is that they are talking about getting another dog but we would truly rather have Sophie back.

here is a picture I took of her on Christmas day with the Red Sox bat toy I got her. I was looking forward to getting to play with her while we watched a few games.

With the loss of Misha and then Sophie things were looking pretty down. DH and I had been looking for kittens and we found these 2 little ones. We brought them home a month ago today.

Felix is on the left and Stitch is on the right. Felix is a boy and Stitch is a girl. Nothing could take the place of Misha but, these 2 have already brought a lot of joy into our lives in the past month.

I've done a bit of stitching but, my scanner is acting up and won't scan the fabric I'm working on properly - it keeps whiting it all out. So I don't have a picture to show you what I'm doing. I hope as I get more done the stitching might make the scanner read the fabric better.
I've also been reading. I just finished what is out of a series about vampires called the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
I have been reading everyones blogs but I've not been commenting. I will try and be better about that.
I hope to have some stitching to share with all of you soon. Thanks for stopping by and for...well just being my friends.

Oh I am SO sorry to hear about the loss of Sophie. I used to work for a vet years ago...I don't remember a young dog ever dying on the table. We lost a few older/sick dogs, though. I wonder if there was some underlying issue with Sophie's liver, since the liver is what metabolizes the anesthetic...??? Did the vet do pre-surgical bloodwork?

Felix and Stitch are so cute! Like you said, they will never take the place of Misha, but they will help get past the hurt. Nothing puts a smile on one's face like watching kittens play! I love the little black patch on Felix's bottom lip...he's got a little goatee!

I felt so sad reading your post about Sophie. What a terrible time for your family to lose such a young and beautiful dog.

I am sure Felix and Stitch will put lots of sunshine back in your life.

What a run of awfulness with family pets. Your poor parents, what a terrible thing to happen when they were doing something routine as responsible pet owners.

Your new kitties are lovely. Of course they never replace a loved pet, but I'm sure they're already loved ptets themselves.

We've just got a new kitten and she's wormed her way into our hearts very quickly - to the point I am sitting on the floor typing this because she's taken over my chair.

I'm very sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. Pets can really pull at your heartstrings. I can't believe Sophie died while being desexed, that really is bizzare. I'm glad the two little tykes are making you smile.

Sorry to hear of the misfortune with Sophie {{{{HUGS}}}}. Felix and Stitch are adorable, they look like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths, but I am sure that they will get into kitty mischief together.

Oh Jenn! (((((HUGS))))) to you, Paul and your parents. I'm really sorry to hear about Sophie. I hope they will find a puppy to replace her soon.
I'm glad you got Felix and Stitch. They are so cute together.
Never feel you can't let us know what is going on... we are here for you... but I do understand the part of trying to manage everything yourself.
If there is anything I can do, just let me know. You know the millions ways you can get in touch with me.
Not too long until Celebration!!!! Yeah!!! I can't wait to stitch Pooh's Temptation! :-)

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about Sophie. I suppose those things do happen, but it is so rare you never think about them. How awful for it to happen and for her to be so young. Losing two so close together would be terribly hard.

Felix and Stitch are adorable. With their coloring they remind me of my cat Bug. Kittens are so cute, and they seem to get into everything they are so curious. I hope their antics bring you smiles and lighten your heart. I'll be looking forward to seeing an update of what you've been stitching when you can get a picture posted. {{hugs}}

Hi Jenn, I stopped by to see if you had gotten a new kitten and to my surprise you go have 2! Felix and Stitch are adorable, and while they won't take the place of Misha I'm sure they will pick up some of her traits to remind you of her.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Sophie. I'm sure your parents were devastated but glad that they are thinking of getting another puppy.

Looking forward to reading about the antics of Felix and Stitch.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat and parents puppy. No other animal will replace them but the new ones will create their own special spots in your lives. Your two kittens are cute.

Oh no! How terrible about Sophie. I'm sure it was hard for everyone. It's never easy to lose a pet, and so unexpectedly! Felix and Stitch are adorable. I'm sure they are a lot of fun. Getting a new pet never replaces the one(s) lost, but it does help bring some joy back.

Jenn - that is so tragic. I am so sorry for your family's loss! I thought that vet's can test animals before putting them under anesthesia now. My Anouk was deemed inappropriate for anesthesia due to her nasal problems, thus was never spayed. What a terrible tragedy for your family. {{{HUGS}}}

Good to see you back again Jenn :o)

I'm SO sorry to hear about Sophie! To be honest, I've NEVER heard about this in all the years I've had pets either. She was a beautiful dog.

Your new little ones are adorable and I'm glad you have managed to open your heart to some new furbabies :o) They will never replace Misha but you can still love them just the same. They have such pretty coloring.

I can't wait to see what you have been working on. Just post when you feel like it. Some days are harder than others but you know where we are!

I hope that Felix and Stitch bring a lot of joy into your heart and home - they look like they will. The vampire books sound great - I'll have to check them out. Can't wait to see what you're stitching on. Again, please email if you need to/want to.
