A little house cleaning

I had to go out on Monday after work and yesterday we had a problem with the gas in the house so I spent all day here waiting for the gas man who didn't turn up till almost 7pm so I've gotten no stitching done the past 2 days and I really want to. Hopefully I'll have an update to show tonight. Since I don't have a WIP photo to show I thought I'd get some other stuff out of the way.

I joined the Christmas Ornament SAL group after seeing all of your finishes over the weekend. Can you tell me where your getting your fabrics? I know Silkweavers use to sell cut pieces that were the right sizes, colors etc for the pieces but, I heard from them and they didn't do it this year cause they had just recently moved. The girl told me that they have had a LOT of requests for them so while she's not sure right now if they will do the 2007 ones with all the requests the probably will. I really don't' want to have to buy a huge piece of fabric if I'm only going to need a piece of it and have the rest sit around probably never to be used. I wouldn't feel so bad about doing that if I could find more than 1 ornament that requires the same fabric.

I joined the PIF that Dawn is doing. So I"m looking for 5 people who would like to receive something hand made from me. You can post in the comments section if you'd like to take part then drop me an e-mail with your snail mail address (My e-mail address can be found in the About Me section of my toolbar).

Tagged by a few people to tell 6 weird things about myself:

1 - When I go to sleep at night the closet doors in the room have to be shut all the way. In fact If I know a door is open in another room I will go and close it. This all goes back to a Stephen King short story I read when I was younger.
2- When I go to bed at night I have to switch sides I'm laying on at last 2 times before I can go to sleep.
3 - I have (what I think are) really long toes.
4 - When I sit down to read I can't have any noise around me, like the tv or the radio, it has to be silent.
5 - Another when I go to bed at night. I'll set my alarm look at it and say to myself "ok it's set." then I'll have to check it again at least once to make sure it's on.
6 - Not sure if this is weird or not but, I don't tend to carry cash on me any more sine I can use my ATM card almost every where.

I'm not sure who else hasn't done this yet. If you've not consider yourself tagged.
January 17th SBQ is:Have you had a happy dance yet this year? If so, tell us about it! (Orjust point to the entry that talks about it.) If not, when do you predict it will be:

I've had a few happy dances this year so far. You can see them in previous posts as well as my Yahoo 2007 finishes album.

January 24 SBQ was suggested by Danielle and is:What company produces your favorite hand-dyed fabric? Are there any companies whose hand-dyed fabric you do not like? If so, why?

The only place I've bought hand dyed fabrics from has been Silkweavers. I have recently gotten a few pieces from other companies from Carol. So far though Silkweavers is my favorite.

That's a shame that you had to wait so long for the gas man. Your 2007 finishes are great. I'm glad you joined the Ornament SAL even though mine didn't get done it was fun! I bought a couple larger pieces of fabric that I could use for other things or other ornaments. I'm sure there is a way to get some swapping happening for small pieces.

That stinks that you had to wait around for the gas man...I had to wait on Monday for the furnace man for 4 hours...I would have been loony if it would have taken all day!
I've never bought Silkweaver, but got one as a gift once...they ARE lovely fabrics :)

Hmmm I'm the same as you are on doors being shut, switching sides before being able to go to sleep, and checking and double checking the alarm. Maybe we aren't as weird as we think. :)

I'll have to peek at your 2007 photo's later, when I tried the link it gave the error message and couldn't find the album. :(

I'm also working on, and dreaming of having a garland and/or Christmastree filled with stitched ornaments...
For different pieces of fabric I like to buy grabbags and try-out-pieces(samples?), and of course I use leftovers from bigger stitchings etc.
If you have joined the group you should be able to organise some kind of swap, I think.
:o)
